CONSTRUCTED A GIY FRUIT AND VEG FLOAT FOR THE ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE – THIRD WEEK IN MARCH 2012

GIY Balbriggan home-grown local produce in St. Patrick's Day Parade

As I was pulling a trailer load of homegrown plants, stored root crops and leafy veg and new-season rhubarb in the Balbriggan St. Patrick’s Day Parade, it lashed rain, not that the fruit and veg minded. Indeed, my one consolation was, atleast it would not be a good time out in my kitchen garden in the rain, so nothing lost in being away from the garden.

In spite of the rain, the onlookers and parading organisations were in good spirits. Myself and a few friends of GIY Balbriggan gave out leaflets inviting one and all to drop in to a free talk and demo about ‘What grows well in Balbriggan?‘ in the Town Hall, Wednesday, 21st March, 2012, at 8pm. There will be a seed sowing demonstration too. Interested in growing your own food? – please drop in if you are passing.
